Colombo Scout Youth Forum 2015

The concept of Youth Forum has been promoted by the World Organization of Scout Movement to create a platform for the young scouts to get together to meet new friends, share experiences- views on scouting and contribute new ideas to the Movement on how to enrich educational programs for young people.

Colombo district took a giant step forward in scouting in Sri Lanka by initiating the first ever District Youth Forum for the Senior Scouts and Rover Scouts, which held from 27th February to 01st March 2015 at Meth Arana Center, Pore, Athurugiriya.

The Organizers invited each Scout Group to join hands with COLOMBO SCOUT YOUTH FORUM 2015 and gain this great exposure while expanding each other’s network. Each scout Troop or Rover Crew sent two official representatives and one observer to the Youth Forum.There were 59 scouts from different troops. Also one of those representatives will get the privilege of being elected to the inaugural COLOMBO SCOUT YOUTH COUNCIL and represent the District at the National Youth Forum due in July 2015.

There were altogether six scout representatives including two delegates and 4 observers, K.A.T.D. Jayasekera, W.T.G.K. Kulshan, B.C.C.G. De Silva, A. Puvi, W.H.S. Fernando, and S. Rathnayake. One of the delegates W.H.S. Fernando got elected to the Youth Council. A resolution was passed to include a clause in the District constitution to formally recognize the CSYF & CSYC and also for DC and EXCO to implement the 18 recommendations of the Forum. The Colombo Scout Youth Council was brought on stage and recognized.
